This, is sadly, my last blog post I will ever do. I believe that I can better preach my philosophies publicly and  only to the people who care to listen. I have had some good times writing these posts and hope that you all will seek me out and ask me questions on the philosophies I have discussed here.

Multiple Understanding Perspectives

"Philosophies of leadership are determined by beliefs about human nature."
- This means, how you determine a leader is based on your personal perspective on human nature.  If you have a Lockain view of human nature then your beliefs about a leader will be different then that of a person with a Hobbian view of human nature.  It all depends on what philosophies you believe in the most.  Human nature is tied into leadership because the way we all act, including the leader, is based on our true human nature. An example of  this philosophy is when, in Disney's Sleeping Beauty, Prince Philip acts on his bravery, which reflects his human nature, to protect Princess Aurora . He becomes a leader through his human nature. 


"The governed have a responsibility for their governance."
-This quote means that the citizens have a say in how they are ruled and/or governed.  They citizens have a right to know how and why they are being governed and to know whether their god given rights are being protected.  The ruler or government should be willing to listen to the people and understand what the need, if the leaders do not do this, the people are aloud to speak out against them.  Example of a well established government that listens to the people is the United States democratic government.    

"Human Nature does not determine our actions,: it inclines us towards us towards certain actions."
- I think this means human nature does not determine what we do but leads us to act a certain way. If you believe in a more Lockian way of thinking, then you will probably act a different way the a Hobbian thinker, but not always.  Sometimes our human nature does not play a part in our lives and we act very differently then we usually would. Take King Triton, from little mermaid, for example. He usually acts harsh and mean, but in the end, acts totally out of character by being nice and excepting.  

The Lost Boys of Sudan

  The experience that the lost boys of Sudan went through is a perfect example of my theory on human nature. I believe that humans are civilized creatures and that in a time of crisis, would ban together and help each other. The lost boys really showed the world that we are good and educated people underneath.  They helped each other in times of need and they acted on their courage and strength to get them through the hardships and the suffering.

Thesis Statement About Human Nature and Lord of the Flies

Thesis Statement:  "Lord of the Flies is an unfair representation of human nature; if given another chance, the boys would have returned to a more Lockian approach to life ." 

Why I Would Change the End of Lord of the Flies

    After reading the book, Lord of the Flies, I was left unsatisfied by the ending.  It was left to abruptly and nothing was resolved.  The boys did not understand their wrongs and they didn't even try to correct them. If I were to rewrite the ending, this is how I would do to.
    Instead of the a navy officer coming to their rescue, I would have the boys look up on the burning Island and realize what they've done.  They would stop hunting Ralph and join together to stop the Island from burning any further. They would ban together and make a new tribe based on the unity they have found by working together. A realization of their insanity would take place and all madness would be corrected.  

How Robin Hood Connects to my Philosophy

The story of Robin Hood is a great example of my philosophy of human nature and social  contract. When the the residents of Nottinghanshire are left to fend for themselves when evil Prince John takes over as ruler, the poor and the hungry band together to help preserve their rights and liberty. Instead of turning into savages, they keep there civilized ways and learn to fight for themselves. They know that their rights are not in the best interest of Prince John so they over through him and establish a new sovereign that would protect their rights and always put the people first.

Who Am I?

 

   My name is John Locke.  I am philosopher who believes in equality and unity.  I believe that people, at the hart, are truly good beings and that, in a state of crisis, would unite and form a civilized society.  Evidence that is this idea is true would be the colonization of the United States of America.  When people of the United Kingdom felt neglected and there rights were left unprotected, they formed and new and civilized society and government.  I call this the state of nature. And in this state of nature we are all given things called the god -given rights at birth.  These rights include life, liberty, health and possessions. Different from my counterpart, Thomas Hobbes, I think that every human being should have more then one right and those rights should be protected by a trustworthy sovereign.
    The social contra ct, as we philosophers call it, is an agreement to where all citizens consent to be ruled by a government or sovereign as long as they protect the rights of the citizens.  The government of the United States of America is an example of how a government should work with the people and for the the people.
